Hello, my yummy, blog-reading, strawberry cupcakes.
I bet you've been asking yourselves, did Real World Yogi watch the royal wedding, or did she blow it off as a waste of time?
You know I watched!
I love those crazy Brits. I can't stop speaking with a British accent for hours after I've watched them.
I keep saying to myself, William …Arthur …Philip …Louis. Did you notice they breathed a little collective sigh of relief when she got the names in the right order?
I watched this morning as I went through my yoga asanas and I stopped, eyes glued to the screen, when they made their sweet vows to each other.
Some thoughts on the whole thing:
Loved the gown. Especially the top. Beautiful. Lovely. Perfect on her. It wasn't too poofy, yet poofier than I had imagined it would be. I thought the bottom would have more lace, too. The train wasn't too long, which is a yes.
Why was Pippa also wearing white? Isn't that a huge no no? And why is her name Pippa? Reminds me of my grandma - Nonna Peppina. Rings of one of my favorite words - peeps!
I thought her hair could've been a little poofier. I am from Jersey. I can't be blamed for liking poofy hair.
Props to Kate for not saying "obey." Instead she said "keep," which I like.
One thing that surprised and annoyed me is they were declared "man and wife."
"Man" is a person. "Wife" is a role. They should have been declared "husband and wife."
What's up with not inviting Fergie? There was a whole thing in the ceremony about forgiving each other, because no one is perfect and they'll both make mistakes. Isn't this also true for family? Fergie's made some mistakes. Some pretty goofy mistakes. But look at Charles! Remember those phone calls with Camilla? While he was married to Diana!
If Charles can be forgiven, why not Fergie? What were her daughters feeling, sitting there with their dad, those hats on their heads (what can I even say about those hats?) knowing their mom had been snubbed? The sermon was lovely, but if they aren't going to live by it when they're tested, what's the point?
My favorite moment of all. When the camera focused on Kate and William's held hands. Kate's little finger was slightly shaky. It was barely noticeable, but William noticed and placed his steady hand under her whole hand, to keep the fingers from shaking.
I am now officially in love with him.
But I wanted him to stand up straighter, shoulders back. Did you notice he was slouching?
They are clearly best friends. They love and respect each other.
I wish them every happiness.
Share your thoughts on this wedding and have a lovely, play-in-the-warm-sun weekend, my lovely, blog-reading Hershey kisses.
