Breathing Inside The Wave

I had another weird dream this morning.

I walked down to a stream that was still.

I stepped into the stream and it wasn’t still at all – it was a rapid.

The current took me with it before I could turn around and step out.

I turned my body around to look at where I wanted to be, back on land, and someone yelled out to watch where I was going.

I turned around and saw I was headed straight for a wall of jagged rocks.

I hit them but was able to maneuver away from them and wasn’t badly hurt.

I realized I couldn’t waste time trying to get back where I came from. I had to be present in the moment and go where the current was taking me. When I got out safely, I could figure out how to get back.

Then a huge wave formed. It was a wall of water so smooth it looked like an enormous mirror right in front of me.

I prepared to be thrown under by the force of the wave. I took a deep breath, but the wave was still standing in front of me. I let the breath go and took another deep breath.

The wave formed around me like a barrel.

I kept expecting it to crash onto me but it didn’t. It rolled around with me inside it. So I breathed inside the wave.

That’s all I remember.

I can’t make it out. If you have any ideas what it means, please let me know.

And share your dreams too. Let’s figure them out together!

  1. It seems so obvious to me now ...be in the moment. No endless gazing forward or behind, past or future, looking for safety. All we have is now. And now is perfect as it is, regardless of what is happening externally to us, even a precarious-seeming barrel wave.
