When we had a torrential downpour last week the water flooded the Freehold Yoga Center.
Water flowed down the walls, puckered the freshly painted office and left unusable the upstairs asana room probably for about a month.
The people at the center at the time, Nina, Yogini, Bill, Shakti and others, did what they could to pump the water out as it came in, but when a cleaning crew came in, the power was turned off and they had no choice but to watch the water do its damage.
Steps have been taken to keep classes going at a nearby church, and the damage to the building is being addressed, but I think the people closest to the center can’t help but be heart broken over it.
It makes sense.
The people who built and run the center – Nina, Omkar, Yogini and Radha – have created and kept going a very special place.
Sometimes you wake up in the morning and remember something awful going on in your life. You feel a terrible sadness. Then you think, I can go to the center.
At the center we’re reminded that we’re completely, 100 percent loved and adored, and all is as it should be in our lives. That all we’re going through is ultimately for our highest good.
It’s like having the best people in the world in your corner. They always have your back. They’re you’re biggest fan. No matter how much you say or do the wrong thing in your life, they don’t doubt for a second you’re still the best thing ever.
They created this place and now its doors are closed, albeit temporarily, but I know why it feels so bad.
sad, it it open now?
ReplyDeleteno - it's closed through december. but it's ok because we're having classes at grace lutheran church and the dance den in the meantime.
ReplyDeleteit's like omkar said in the newsletter, it isn't newly painted walls and sanded floors that matter, it's being present for each other wherever we are ...so true!
