All There Is
I went to a labyrinth this weekend at Stella Maris in Long Branch.
It's a paved circle that leads to a goal, a large circle in the center. But along the way there are stops and starts keeping you temporarily from your goal.
You start out by passing a bunch of the iterations of the circle and you think you're gonna get there in no time.
Then you're led back almost to the beginning and realize you weren't as close as you thought you were.
So, you go around and around in circles and finally you reach the center.
And when I got to the center I thought, this isn't nearly as fun and exciting as seeing where the next turn would place me and how I'd get all the way back again.
So, it really is how we react to the twists, turns, setbacks and triumphs of the journey that's the point of it. Better to realize it when we're on our way than when we're at the end looking back.
Right now is all there is.

Great post. Got me thinking...in our fast-paced culture, we tend to focus too much on the outcome and too little on the process. Because of this, life becomes simply a series of tasks rather than an experience. Thank you for reminding me to enjoy the process...to enjoy the experience.
